Each year, tens of thousands of men and women choose to undergo eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, to improve their appearance. Droopy eyelids can make you look older, tired, and sad, and they can even impair your vision. By lifting the eyelids, removing puffiness, and eliminating bags, you can restore a naturally youthful, lively appearance.

What to Expect
With age, the skin of the eyelids loses its supple quality, and muscles become more lax and less supportive. These effects, along with the help of gravity, can cause upper eyelids to sag, creating a permanently tired appearance. Lower lids can droop, and prominent bags can develop. Eyelid surgery restores a refreshed, alert look throughout the eye area.
Depending on your goals, we can determine whether you would benefit from surgery of the upper lids, lower lids, or both. Eyelid surgery can also be performed in conjunction with a facelift or brow lift for more comprehensive results.
For patients concerned with the appearance of crow’s feet and similar signs of aging, your surgeon may suggest BOTOX®, Dysport® or other nonsurgical med spa treatmentsto help completely rejuvenate your face.
Meeting with your surgeon is an important part of ensuring your ideal results. During your consultation at Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery, you’ll learn more details about your procedure, as well as talk about other treatments that may be complementary to your eyelid surgery. You’ll also be given additional information about what to expect before and during surgery, and how you should prepare for your recovery.
Preparing for Your Eyelid Surgery
During eyelid surgery, excess fat, muscle, and skin will be removed from either the upper or lower lids, or both, reducing or eliminating droopiness or puffiness around the eyes. Generally, blepharoplasty surgery takes 1 to 2 hours.
Recovery & Results
The recovery period for eyelid surgery is about 2 weeks. Immediately following your blepharoplasty, you should sleep with your head upright. Ice packs can help alleviate swelling and keep you comfortable.
You should see the final results of your eyelid surgery in just a month or two, and enjoy a subtly refreshed appearance that helps you look more vibrant and energized.
