A woman's breasts often change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. These changes and loss of skin elasticity can result from pregnancy, age, weight fluctuations, and genetics. When this happens, the breasts begin to sag and can often become heavy causing discomfort in the shoulder and neck area.

Also known as a mastopexy, a breast lift raises and rejuvenates the appearance of the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. In some cases, the breast gland itself is reduced to produce a smaller, perkier breast contour. A breast lift can be performed on breasts of any size, but the results last longer for women with smaller breasts or for those women who desire a reduction in size. Larger, heavier breasts will feel the effects of gravity more quickly in the years following surgery.
This patient is a lovely 40 year old who desired a rejuvenated appearance to her heavy, large and sagging breasts. She was ready to improve her figure and regain her confidence. She underwent a breast lift procedure where excess skin and breast gland were removed and the remaining volume of breast tissue was lifted to a higher position on the chest wall. She is shown here at 4 months after surgery and is very happy with her new appearance.
A breast lift (mastopexy) procedure is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed in our practice—especially for women after pregnancy seeking the "mommy makeover"—a tummy tuck combined with breast rejuvenation and enhancement surgery. Breast lifts can be combined with a reduction procedure for patients who feel too large. They can also be combined with a breast implant for patients who wish to increase the volume of their bust line. To learn more about the breast lift procedure, please click here to visit our breast enhancement page on our website with links to contacting our practice. Indulge yourself with a consultation today and discover the possibilities!
Connie Tomlinson is one of the friendly faces you are likely to see during your pre and post-op visits at Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery. She is a highly skilled medical assistant who has worked for many years in the medical field having spent time in the pediatric, family medicine, allergy/pulmonology and orthopedic specialties prior to her experience in plastic surgery. She not only prepares patients for their surgery at their pre-op appointment, but is ever present at most of their after surgery visits. Her thoroughness, caring touch and sense of humor make this experience a positive one for our patients. She was born in Paradise, California, but has lived all over the West. She is happily married to a wonderful man and is now the proud grandmother of five. In her spare time she loves to ride dirt bikes, travel the beautiful California coast, and drink wine. Her latest hobby is kayaking. Look for Connie's smiling face the day of your surgery pre-op visit!
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant; just as you feel great after drinking a glass of vitamin C-rich orange juice, your skin will be energized when it receives a nutrient topically. Vitamin C is a great addition to any skin care program. It provides antioxidant properties as well as additional sun protection properties. Topical Vitamin C, sometimes called L-ascorbic acid, prevents oxidative damage of the skin. It prevents damage from the environment and can help repair past damage that our skin has received over many years of neglect. When stable Vitamin C is applied under sunscreen, you receive 25% more sun damage protection.
At Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery, we carry both Skin Ceuticals and Obagi brand stable Vitamin C serums. Obagi serums come as follows: 5% for eyes only, 10%, 15%, and 20% for the face. The Skin Ceuticals line carries the only product which has Vitamins C, E and Ferrulic acid—which stays active as an antioxidant on your skin for 4 days. Now is the time to add a Vitamin C serum product to your skin care regimen to prevent damage, brighten the skin and enhance the properties of your sunscreen product. Make an appointment with Maureen today to learn more about a proper medical line skin care routine.
