The summer months are not far away and the warmer weather brings back tank tops, bikinis, and strapless dresses. Many women feel self-conscious about small breast size especially during the summer season. Breast augmentation, or surgical enlargement of the breasts with Mentor Memory Gel implants, has helped thousands of women feel more confident about their bodies. In addition to increasing breast size, breast augmentation can balance a difference in breast size or restore volume to the breasts after pregnancy. And with the FDA approval of silicone implants, a woman desiring breast enhancement now has a softer more lifelike implant choice.

JC is a 25 year old mother of two who desired larger fuller breasts. She noted a decrease in her existing breast volume after childbearing and wished to rejuvenate the appearance and feel of her flattened breast tissue. During her consultation for breast augmentation, the options for breast implants were presented and she opted for the Cohesive Silicone Gel implants — a good choice for this patient given her slender build and lack of breast tissue coverage. In the spring of 2007, she underwent a breast augmentation procedure with silicone gel implants behind the muscle using an inframammary fold incision. She is shown here at 4 months after surgery and is absolutely thrilled with her results!
Breast augmentation can be performed through several different incisions depending on a woman's anatomy and existing breast tissue. By inserting a breast implant behind each breast, the breast size can be increased by one or more bra cup sizes. Implants can be placed either above or below the pectoralis major muscle, and during your consultation, either Dr. Kaufman or Dr. Clark will recommend the best placement for you. In addition, our doctors and nurses work with each patient using sample breast sizers to determine the appropriate volume to create the outcome she desires.
Breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures performed in our practice and can often be combined with other body sculpting procedures such as liposuction or abdominoplasty. To learn more about breast augmentation, please visit our breast enhancement page on our website with links to contacting our practice. It might seem that the words "acid" and "hydration" shouldn't be used in the same sentence, but in the case of hyaluronic acid, they can. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body, found mainly in the skin, cartilage, eyes, and joints. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant (a moistening molecule) and it can hold one thousand times its weight in water. This makes it a very powerful hydrating agent and wonderful for the skin.
Our bodies already produce a small amount of hyaluronic acid on its own; it rarely causes an allergic reaction and is very gentle to all skin types. Hyaluronic acid is a versatile skin care product as it is excellent for dry, dehydrated skin and as an allover nutrient for your face. Even problem skin is noticeably improved with regular use of hyaluronic acid.
At Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery, we carry several products containing Hyaluronic Acid. SkinCeuticals B5 Serum is 100% hyaluronic acid and is an excellent hydrating serum for dry, sensitive or oily skin types. SkinCeuticals Blemish Control Gel carries a blend of salicylic acid and hyaluronic acids to simultaneously exfoliate and hydrate a breakout without causing inflammation and dryness. And in the mineral makeup department, we carry Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals with Hyaluronic Acid. What a great idea! Camouflage coverage that's hydrating without feeling oily.
