Last week The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) announced the release of their statistics report for 2011. Here are the bullet points.
The top five cosmetic procedures in the U.S. in 2011 were:
1) Liposuction (325,332 procedures)
2) Breast Augmentation (316,848 procedures)
3) Abdominoplasty (149,410 procedures)
4) Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) (147,540 procedures)
5) Breast lift (127,054 procedures)
As you can see, liposuction is back on top – from 2008 to 2010, breast augmentation enjoyed a brief moment as the most popular procedure, but liposuction is back up 13% from 2010.
In total, Americans received more than 9 million procedures in 2011, costing almost $10 billion. read more

All 3,400 Buffalo public school teachers are permitted to get any cosmetic procedure they wish without price limits. The program will create a projected $42 million deficit in the Buffalo Board of Education’s 2013 budget.
The teacher’s union is using the controversial plastic surgery benefit program as a bargaining chip to get better pay for teachers in Buffalo, who have attempted to get pay raises over the past nine years since their contract expired.
How much a teacher should be paid is a matter on which reasonable people can disagree. read more
