According to a recent report by RealSelf.com, the largest website for plastic surgery reviews and information, trends in the $20 billion medical-beauty industry are changing. Here are some highlights:
The “Mommy Makeover,” a combination of breast implants, tummy tuck, and liposuction, typically aimed at restoring the pre-pregnancy looks of mothers, is up 13 percent the past year. According to RealSelf.com: “On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, patients experienced a boost in self-confidence (up four points), attractiveness (up three points) and sex life satisfaction (up two points).”
Dr. Nassif of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fame cited two new procedures as rising plastic surgery trends: temple fillers and the Vampire Facelift, a non-invasive procedure that uses the patient’s own blood plasma.
Non-invasive, fat-freezing procedures such as CoolSculpting are getting more attention. Internet searches for Coolsculpting are up 36 percent over the past year.
The state of Florida wins the prize for the most internet searches for “Brazilian Butt Lift,” a search term with more than 520,000 searches in the first quarter of this year.
Lastly, RealSelf data revealed that board certified doctors had an average of 15 percent higher patient satisfaction rates. Dr. Kaufman is board certified and has high patient satisfaction rates.
