Dermal Fillers
At a certain stage of the aging process, usually in a person’s 40s and up, it’s common to experience a loss of volume in the mid-face that can make us appear older than we feel. We frequently begin to experience a gradual loss of the youthful fullness of our facial contours.
At The Natural Result / Center for Aesthetic Artistry, we offer a range of dermal fillers to meet your needs. We also offer BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, a common supplement to dermal fillers. During your consultation, we can discuss the best approach to help you meet your cosmetic goals. Our skilled nurse injectors are highly trained and experienced in enhancing your look while maintaining a natural appearance.

Good Candidates for Dermal Fillers
Most anyone who wants to plump up areas of lost volume or enhance their contours are good candidates for dermal fillers. People with mild to moderate wrinkles or folds, under eye bags, nasolabial folds or sunken cheeks may benefit from injectable treatments. Candidates should be relatively healthy and have realistic expectations and goals for their overall outcome. It’s recommended that you do not smoke as this can alter your results.
Fat loss in the face is a common result of aging, which can lead to a tired and wrinkled appearance. Dermal fillers are an excellent way to restore lost facial volume and sunken contours, smooth away fine lines and wrinkles, and fill pitting or scarring.
However, if you are concerned with more significant skin sagging or deeper wrinkles and creases, cosmetic surgery like a facelift/neck lift or brow lift may be a better option.
Dermal fillers are used to:
- Restore or enhance facial contours
- Smooth away lines and wrinkles around the nose
- Fade lines around the mouth
- Plump and fill out lips
- Correct facial asymmetry
- Treat age-related volume loss in the neck, décolletage and hands
Your nurse injector will go over your health history, including allergen history before treatment to help reduce the risk of reaction.

Your Treatment Appointment
Before your dermal filler treatment, you will have a consultation during which we can discuss your cosmetic goals and analyze the best approach to take. They’ll determine which injectable is best, where to place the filler and how much should be injected to help you achieve optimal results.
Our flexible appointment times allow you to fit your dermal filler treatment into your existing schedule. Many of our clients are able to fit their appointment in over their lunch break and return to their normal activities immediately after.
Your consultation is also the ideal time to discuss any additional concerns you may have. While it is possible to see beautiful results through the use of dermal fillers, you may be interested in BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® for offering temporary improvement in the appearance of frown lines.
What to Expect
To prepare for your dermal filler injections, your nurse injector will clean the injection site(s) and possibly apply a topical numbing cream. Injections cause minimal discomfort, but a topical numbing cream may be used to further reduce any discomfort. They may also mark a specific area of the face to ensure proper application.
Your nurse injector will use an ultra-fine needle and their trained eye to strategically inject the filler into the targeted area just beneath the skin. From there, they will assess the area to see if more filler is needed to get you as close as possible to your desired results. The treatment itself takes only a few minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated.
Dermal Filler FAQs
-
How much do dermal fillers cost? The cost of dermal fillers varies widely by location, provider, filler type and other factors. The average price you might find online can often be inaccurate, so the best way to determine the cost of your filler appointment is to schedule a consultation with a reputable provider in your area.
-
How do I choose the best provider near me for dermal fillers?Although dermal fillers are nonsurgical treatments, they still need to be administered by a highly skilled and trained professional in order to yield excellent, natural-looking results with a minimized risk of complications. Choose a filler provider near you by asking friends and family for personal recommendations, checking online reviews and looking at before and after photos online.
-
Are dermal fillers the best anti-aging treatment for me?Dermal fillers could be the best treatment for you if you are unhappy with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and creases or if you are looking to restore lost facial volume in your cheek area, temples, the chin or lips. Some people choose to try dermal fillers before moving forward with a surgical procedure like a facelift. However, a surgical procedure may be the best solution for you if you are struggling with very pronounced wrinkles and sagging skin that a nonsurgical treatment may not be able to address.
-
Do fillers hurt? Most people find that dermal fillers are relatively comfortable. A topical anesthetic can be applied prior to your treatment to make you as comfortable as possible. After getting fillers, you may experience some swelling, bruising and tenderness at the injection site, but these symptoms are usually mild and should resolve on their own over the next few days.
-
Is there downtime after getting fillers? No, there is no downtime associated with dermal fillers. You should be able to return to work and other daily activities directly after your appointment. However, you should avoid strenuous physical activity and vigorously rubbing or massaging the treated area for the first few days to maximize your results.
-
How soon will I see my dermal filler results? You will likely see an immediate difference in your appearance directly after getting dermal fillers. However, it can take up to two weeks to see your final result, as swelling and bruising may hide the changes in your features. It can also take around two weeks for the product to fully settle into place. For this reason, it is generally recommended that you schedule your filler appointment at least two weeks before an important event.
-
How long do dermal fillers last?Generally speaking, dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, although this can depend on the type of filler used, how quickly your body metabolizes the product and certain lifestyle factors.
-
How can I make fillers last longer? You can help prolong your dermal filler results by avoiding sun exposure, wearing daily sunscreen, following the proper skincare regimen for your skin type (possibly adding a hyaluronic acid topical product), staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, getting adequate sleep, not smoking, and managing stress.
Recovery & Results
Dermal fillers remain a popular option for cosmetic treatment partially because they are what’s known as a ‘lunchtime procedure.’ Dermal filler appointments usually last about 60 minutes and most people return to their normal routine immediately following your treatment. Minor bruising or swelling may occur. Injections around the eyes and lips can cause significant swelling and/or bruising for a few days.
Final results can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to be experienced. It’s important to follow your post-treatment instructions and allow your filler to settle before assessing your final results. Once your final results are achieved, you should notice a natural-looking enhancement to your facial contours and a more refreshed appearance.
A primary advantage of the dermal fillers offered at The Natural Result / Center for Aesthetic Artistry is that they are injected by experienced nurses. Patients may wish to maintain their results with touch-up treatments every several months. For those who notice advanced signs of aging, we also offer facial plastic surgery options.
